What is a website?
Technically speaking, a website is initially a collection of HTML documents that can be made available and accessed via the Internet. It can present texts, images, links, videos and other media. A website is usually accessed via a unique URL and can be used for a number of purposes such as information transfer, entertainment, e-commerce or communication.
When do we use websites?
Whenever we want to present certain topics or areas of the Liebherr company and we are not talking about a work tool, websites are the ideal tool.
What makes a Liebherr website different?
Liebherr websitescreate identification with the brand. They provide recognition across all product areas and convey the characteristics of the brand to the target group. That’s why we focus on generous design in accordance with the corporate design guidelines. We work in a generous grid across all screen sizes, leave plenty of white space and use brand-building elements such as the brand banner or the primary headline and large images. All of this is set out in the Pattern Library.
What is a portal?
Technically speaking, a portal is also a website that is accessed via a URL. It’s tailored to a specific user group with an interest in a specific product area.
When do we use portals?
A portal is used as a central hub for employees, partners and other stakeholders to access relevant information and materials. It bundles a variety of resources and services such as emails, news, search engines, databases, online shopping etc. in one place for easy access.
What sets a Liebherr portal apart?
Since a portal can serve as a working aid for both Liebherr employees and service providers, there should be a registration process for it to be used in full. The registered user is provided with a wide range of specific information and customisable functions. Therefore, the focus of a portal’s user interface is on a compact visualisation with as much information content as possible within a view window. Unlike Liebherr websites, portals generally don’t have a space with a large image and brand banner and work with smaller image sizes in the content area as well as smaller spacing and headline sizes. Portals can have page navigation that can be expanded or collapsed as required. These modules and specifications can be found in the Pattern Library.
